Martin grew up skiing in his home town of Thredbo. He developed the passion for skiing from a very young age. He was one of the first ever members of the original Thredbo Racing team and started racing at the age of 8 years old. His first trip overseas was with the National Development team to Mt Rose Nevada at the age of 11 years. The switch to freestyle came later when Martin started Freestyle skiing as a National combined representative.

At 22, Martin then went on to represent Australia for the next 10 years on the World Cup circuit. He was based in the French mountains and created some long term and everlasting international friendships through his competitive years.
Quietly, Martin speaks of having competed in over 1000 competitions in his life time. His passion for skiing and skiing competitions now drives him to support and develop the future talented young skiers to achieve their lifetime skiing goals.
